Tropical Cyclone Funa
Well today was everybodies last full day in New Zealand and just to show that the sun doesn't shine all of the time, the tail end of Tropical Cyclone Funa, tracked its way over the country. Tropical Cyclones don’t often feature in New Zealand’s weather but, when they do, they usually cause serious damage. Fortunately Cyclone Funa, although it did bring torrential rain and gale force winds is caused little damage here in Richmond. Gordon and Kay had to take the campervan back to Picton today so the morning was spent cleaning it out etc while Mum made hot pancakes for everyone. Its a 2 hour drive to Picton so the round trip was 4 hours so took up most of the afternoon. Mum and the boys stayed at home and watched the wind and rain. Although there was torrential rain and high winds the temperature was still in the high 20s. Mum made tea for us all - mince and tatties - and we had a quiet evening packing and preparing to leave. By 7pm the storm had passed and the sky was blue again.
