Saturday morning and Mum and I decided to make another trip into Nelson to visit the market. Mum still had a few bits and bobs she wanted to get so the market was the best place to pick them up. We had intended going early (before 9) but we didn't get going until after 9 (my fault!) so the market was getting quite busy by the time we got there. Mum knew what she wanted though so it was no bother locating the stalls and buying the last few souvenirs/gifts.
It was really hot in the afternoon so Mum stayed in and watched the World Bowls championships. The local lass from Nelson - Val Smith - won the individual women's' competition and the Scots won the team (4) competition.
In the evening, when it was a bit cooler we decided to go for a walk. We decided to go up some of the path to the lookout behind our house as there are great views from there overlooking Richmond, the Waimea Estuary and Tasman Bay. You don't have to go far up the path to get good views but Mum managed right to the top!! We just took our time and stopped to look at the views every so often. Tom and I were well impressed that Mum managed up to the top. We took our time coming down as Mum's sandals were not the best for hill walking and it was quite slippy. I think Mum was fair pleased with herself too as the views did make it well worth the effort. Well done Mum!!
Gordon and Kay back tomorrow so it will be good to hear how they have got on in the South Island.
